Then we move eastward towards the Sajama National Park before discovering the wonders of the Chilean Altiplano: Surire Salar, Chuquicamata, Tatio geysers, San Pedro Atacama and Valley of the Moon. Northern Chile offers contrasting landscapes. This is land of mysteries, of landscapes shaped by ever-present minerals. It is said that the Atacama Desert is the driest of the world. Indeed, certain parts of it have never known rain!
From Chile, we enter the heart of the Altiplano in Bolivia and encounter Lipez, truly the end of the world, Tunupa volcano and the salt flat of Uyuni.
