Climate in Costa Rica (when to go?)
Costa Rica is a mountainous region and this plays an important role in the country’s agreeable climate. There are two well-defined seasons: the dry season, or summer, which runs from November to the first days of May, and the rainy season, which begins in May and extends to the end of October.
In the entire Pacific zone and the Guanacaste, the rainy season is between March to the end of October, beginning of November, and in the Caribbean, fresh rain will be present from May to December, except for September and October when we see a short but nice summer.
Even during the rainy months, the mornings (throughout the country) tend to be sunny and nice. Depending on the area, temperatures reach an average of 24.9°C on the Coast and on the beaches, 16,3°C in the highlands and between 20°C and 22°C in the Central Valley.
In all the regions of the country the coldest month can be November, December or January; the warmest can be April or May.
