The Inca trail in Peru
The Inca trail is the most popular trekking route in Peru and is certainly one of the most spectacular on the continent. It is part of a network of roads covering more that 23,000 km built by the Incas. Each year we guide many individual travellers in Peru (with a local private guide or as part of an international group) along the 43 km long ‘’Inca trail’’ that takes you to the undeniable cultural citadel of Machu Picchu, found in the depths of the Cuzco forest.

This private adventure travel begins in Arequipa. In the outlying districts in the middle of the country, we will visit Chivay, entryway to the Valley of Colca with magnificent landscapes and volcanoes. We will individually travel through the valley to reach Cruz del Cóndor where you will be able to see the extraordinary flight of condors and the depth of the canyon, the deepest of the world!

The city of Cuzco in the Andes, at the heart of the Inca Empire, offers many possibilities for historical and archaeological visits. Cuzco is the starting point of the Inca Trail. The route runs through an impressive range of altitudes, where climates and eco-systems range from the high Andean plain down to the cloud forests. We cross two openings of high altitude before reaching the Sun Gate that gives access to Machu Picchu. The trek is surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. The forests abound in hundreds of species of orchids, brightly-coloured birds and dream-like landscapes, the ideal complement to this indispensable hikers' route.

Peru is not only an Andes country. Its tropical forest covers almost half of its territory. We finish our private adventure travel in the heart of this Amazon forest in a comfortable lodge, accompanied by a local guide. Four days to spend at the eco-lodge to take safari photos, Amazon walks (either by foot or by canoe) and of course, siestas in the hammock, listening to the songs of the parakeets in the background!
