Climate (When to go)

The dry season in Thailand is from the end of October to April, with a hot period in April-May (an average of 35°) before giving way to monsoon season. The high season for tourism, which is also the coolest season, is between December and January. You must make reservations many months in advance for air travel, hotel stays and if required, a guide. The months of June to October are also good for discovering Thailand but sunny days are a little less certain. During monsoon season, temperatures vary between 27° and 34°.

The average annual temperature is 34° during the daytime. The temperature range between daytime and nightime is quite different according to topography; in the highlands during dry season temperatures will drop to 10°. In the central plain and southern peninsular region, it is a milder tropical heat with temperatures at night averaging 28°.

Thailand has two seasons. During dry season temperatures are pleasant and rise between November and March. This is followed by monsoon season that begins in the Andaman Coast between May and December with strong tropical rains. The Gulf of Thailand is exposed to violent winds from the northwest beginning in October. However, from May to September, contrary to the Andaman Coast, the Gulf of Thailand becomes an ideal resort destination.
