Start your journey with a short boat ride to Prison Island, just 30 minutes from Stone Town. The island is home to giant Aldabra tortoises, brought from the Seychelles in 1919, and offers beautiful spots for snorkeling and relaxing by the sea. Once a quarantine station, it later became the site of a prison built by the British in the 1890s—though it was never put to use.
